GATHER & GRILL – The McLemore Boys

The Barbecue News Magazine crew returned from their trip to Key West with a new book and being a lucky smoking and grilling person, I get to do the review.
First, let me say that I am impressed with the more than 100 recipes, along with the stories, because of the simplicity of prep and the short list of ingredients. This probably did not start out as a priority for the authors but for non-chef BBQ, smoking and grilling enthusiasts, it is a welcomed feature.
Second, even if there were not so many great recipes, the story of the McLemore Family and continued success that began with the Masterbuilt family of grilling products — the stories would be worth the price. This writer was impressed with the honestly with which each family member shared their stories. Their love of God, family and food shines through even in the difficult to tell stories.
Most of our readers have probably seen the father-son duo on Fox and Friends during the summer months as they cook up some mouth-watering delights for the crew on the show. Its quite evident John and John II enjoy what they do and delivering their superb knowledge of BBQ and grilled dishes to others is the best of “sauces” for the duo!
There is an “eating meeting” later this month and I will be taking Mimi’s Green Bean Casserole, from Page 65 and cooked on the pellet grill. Yes, there are a lot of side dishes and other “just good eating” recipes too. This includes recipes for leftovers, desserts, rubs and sauces. The McLemore Boys father/son duo make grilling and gathering around the grill with family both easy and fun! — available at www.themclemoreboys.com or from your favorite book source.
