Nephew,Dan, is an Army Special Forces Captain. He is a jumpmaster with 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). We have been expecting to hear that Dan has returned from his 9th and final deployment some time in the next week or 10 days. Brother called a little before 9 last night with news that Dan is home for the last time. He will leave the Army on June 1, spend the summer touring the country on his Harley Soft Tail, and will start the private sector job that he has already accepted in mid-September. WELCOME HOME DAN!

Have a buddy that did the around the country tour on his Harley last year. Left Lakeland, Fl. - up the east coast into New England, across into midwest - across the Mac Bridge to the U.P. and down through Wisconsin - did not travel but pretty much followed I 90 & I 80 into Pacific Northwest - down into California - BINGO - starts to see "Welcome To L.A." signs - car cuts him off and he dumps the bike - he wasn't hurt but bike was severely damaged. Dan plans to pass through Chicago area a couple times, just so he doesn't have to carry a Weber - he knows what Uncle Larry can do with a grill or smoker. He'll get plenty of breaks - he has friends all over the country, but did say he's planning about 15,00 miles over three months or so - that is a lot of road time on a Harley. You know about road trips! Think Roger Miller wrote a song about you back in the mid-60's - "King of The Road", even Willie sings about you "On The Road Again". You & Bill Jr think nothing of packing up trailers and vans, towing a cooker, and humping to Reno in two or three days. Once you get there you unpack, set up, cook for thousands over a 5 or 6 day period, know you party a little also, but then you tear it down, pack it up, and drive it all back, where what is not used regulary has to be put away. Know you take your time coming back, but that's a lot of hard work sandwiched between a what? ... 5000 mile drive inabout 2 1/2 or 3 weeks. Anyway ... Did get to talk to Dan for about 10 minutes yesterday before I had to cut him short because I was at work and had my set up to do. Will talk more with him today. He's glad to be home and looking forward to some R&R. He kind of chuckled when I told him that I'm about 99.999% sure that he's not going to go anywhere before his out date.
