Apple's market capitalization topped $500 billion yesterday making it worth more than the gross domestic product of Sweden, Belgium, and Poland.
Other companies that have topped $500 billion in market capitalization are Exxon in 2007, Microsoft in 1999 and 2000 - even topped $600 billion for one day, Cisco Systems, Intel, and General Electric all in early 2000.
None stayed long at this capitalization level. Most are now worth about $100 - 200 billion.
