hello all, i recently replaced my 10 year old SnP Professional as it had finally rusted out beyond being usable. i just received my new Medina River 66 which can be seen here - http://www.shopperschoice.com/item_name_Medina-River-Backyard-Large-Charcoal-Smoker-Grill_item_2545012.html?source=froogle&gclid=CJ3B49jlga4CFcPAKgod4nwH3A
i did not order through them, but that is the exact smoker i have.
i had a heat baffle, grate level thermometers, and grate level smokestack extension on the old pit and plan to do the same with this new pit. this pit has a very different smokestack than the old pit - it exits the pit on the end plate rather than the top and has a 90 degree turn already. to reach grate level i will have to install a 90 degree elbow and i am wondering if that will effect the draft and what materials would be best to acheive this. any and all thoughts or suggestions are welcomed! thanks

i just finished a charcoal basket tonight, and i think i will do a few cooks to see how the pit cooks so i can compare the performance after i do the stack lowering. i used aluminum flashing to extend the last stack and was thinking i would use that again with a stainless or aluminium 90 degree fitting.
