Smokin a Prime Rib on Monday. Need a decent Au Jus recipe ASAP!! Have seen numerous that use drippings but guess what...I won't have any and don't want any...Want smoked meat man. Help

First, welcome. Second, calm down, no need to panic. Melt some butter in a sauce pan, and add one diced medium onion, cook for 3-4 minutes. Pour in 3 cups of beef broth and add one sprig of thyme. Bring to a boil, then reduce down to a simmer. Simmer until reduced by a third, then strain.

AL'S POSTED A GOODEN BUT HERES A SIMPLE EN GO TO SAMS OR WALLY WORLS GET A CAN OF BEEF BASE,ADD WATER...YOU COULD COOK THAT PRIME RIB IN A PAN AND YOUD HAVE SOME DRIPPINGS

drippins is good . a litte red wine and some beef soup stock will be ok, but drippins from smoked meat is better .. merry merry

| Man you guys are the best! Being xmas and all I figured yall were hunkered down and doin your own thing!! I've been an avid follower of this site for 8 years and have taken all of your advice at 1 time or another. So THANKS for your quick response, its in the egg as we speak. |

It may be late but what I do, if you can find it locally (Amazon does have it), is use Johnny's French Dip Mix (comes in a small white jug) normally found in the bbq sauce section in grocery stores otherwise I've been doing what BOS says as I can't find the Johnny's locally anymore. My beef base comes in a jar & is like a paste that you add into water but I forget the brand name.

GREAT CHICKEN,BEEF AND VEGETABLE STOCKS ARE FROM STOUFFER FOODS.USUALLY FOUND REFRIGERATED SECTION AT SAMS CLUB OR GORDON FOOD SERVICE CERTAINLY OTHERS. . I HAVE GROWN UP WITH SOUP STOCK BASES AND HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS PREPERATION.
