I'm 38, from New Jersey originally, but live in Cheshire, Connecticut now. I sell orthopedic implants and surgical instruments. My dad was a caterer and owned a restaurant, so I've been cooking my whole life. Because of my job, I travel frequently and have had the chance to eat alot of 'cue while in the south. (I used to do some work with the famous sports medicine doctor Jimmy Andrews in Birmingham).

I got serious about making my own 'cue about 5 years ago when I finally bought my own house and stopped living out of suitcases. I bought a Char-broil Silver Smoker, and did all the standard mods plus a few extras such as adding a rotisserie and a small gas ring in the fire box for weeknight grilling and to light my logs (I burn mostly sugar maple).

I'm married and have two dogs (wheaton terrier and a standard schnauzer).

they sit in front of the smoker sniffing the air for hours on end! once I was doing a beer can chicken and placed the chicken on the picnic table while I was opening the lid on the smoker. when I turned around my wheaton terrier was standing on the table licking the rub off the chicken!

My turn, my turn, me me me me me.
Hello all I'm Lynnae from beautiful rainy Portland Oregon. I'm 38, single and I am obsessed with barbecue. I've only been at it for a year or two and so far have done well. I just love reading all the posts and even chiming in once in a while...I'll be around more I promise....there's just so much to learn about bbqing it's crazy...say Sandy, don't you live out this way????
There is a small but great group of very dedicated quer's out here in the Pacific Northwest (www.pnwba.com) and some great and talented folks in Canada as well, let's not count them out 'eh? One of the things I love about bbq is the camaraderie that we all feel towards each other. It's so evident at competitions and here on this forum...jokes and jabs and laughs, real people sharing experiences and advice and making sure you don't leave hungry....it's such a good thing to have and be a part of...a nice escape from the awful stuff going on in the world as we speak.....
Well it's finally my weekend and I'm fixin to practice some side dishes that we're going to the Great American BBQ Comp with tomorrow.
peace love a bbq...it doesn't get any better that that!
