Saturday around noon I got to do something I never thought would happen. I got to
have lunch with the legend himself, mr Billy Bones at his sons place Bone Daddys!

What a great experience. Billy is a very interesting person to talk to,
full of stories that he could probably go on for days telling, and I would be
sitting on the edge of my chair the entire time. I have been driving by his place in
Red Keg ( Sanford to me ) Michigan ever since I can remember when I still lived at home.
I remember the 1st time I bought his bbq sauce many, many years ago in Midland mich.
When I started down this bbq road im taking now, it was him and his adventure that I think of
for inspiration every time. And now to be able to meet, and have lunch with my, and michigans,
bbq idol is an experience I will always remember. Bone daddys Is his sons bbq place, as
you all know, and the lunch we had was the best I have ever had any where in the U.S. that I
have dined thus far for bbq. I have long been dreaming of having my own bbq place in the very
near future, and Bone Daddys is what I would want. Billy took me on a tour of the place and out
to the pits to see the operation. My level of excitement was so high when I left that I could have
ran out and opened a place right then! My sense of urgency to get off my arse and get moving on
this has risen to a new level for me. I hope one day to return the favor and invite him into my
place for another inspiring bbq lunch.

Thanks mr. bones !

I recently met a retired Court Judge wintering in Eufaula, Al. When I mentioned BBQ contests he told me that he had a famous BBQ man in his home town. He later asked me if I had ever heard of Billy Bones. It is a small world isn't it.
