I asked this questiion to Ms. Sandy, but now I am asking all of you. Why aren't there more females on this forum? Other than me and Ms. Sandy, there are very few other ladies that ever post on here. Why do you think that is? I go to competitions, I know that your wives are just as involved as you are. So why don't they post? I know they have opinions. I mean, Hello! We are women!

And if you are a lady who is posting under your husband, why not create your own account?! I enjoy being on here. It's fun reading everyones thoughts and experiences. Sooooo?????

Beats me. There are other forums (not BBQ) out there that are dominated by women and they gab about all sorts of stuff and have a lot of fun. There's also women that enjoy BBQ. Why the two haven't come together is beyond me.

I don't understand it either.
My wife has done exactly what you stated, she made a few posts using my name, and then that was it.
Granted she is not into bbq as much as I am, but she is just as much involved in most of the que I make as I am.
She may not be the one manning the pit, but she does help with prep, slicing and serving, making sides, and clean-up.

It seems to me that she would post on here from time to time, but she doesn't.

I'll ask her about it tonight and see what her answer is.

Jess,
I told you I would give this some thought and here goes.

I can only speak for myself and my own experiences ... and this is what I think.
In my family, I had 3 brothers,... married and had 4 sons.
As a family? If I wanted to be a part of it?... I needed to show an interest.
(I truly believe families are closer when they do things together.)

By some definitions, barbecue is a sport... so with that in mind,
even though I am a "part of it?" I have chosen to participate in my own way.
Just as I did, while married and raising a family.
I was involved, with all that my family did, but more or less in a "supportive role."
Score keeper... Den Mother... bait procurer.... PTA pres. .... room mother,...etc.

Each of us choose, the role we feel most comfortable with...
In most things that all of my boys, (and hubby) were involved in? I supported.
When it came to fishing? I could "hold my own."
I chose to be a participant and not just a supporter.

So even though we may not have many ladies posting?
Without their support...I seriously DOUBT... we would have all of the members
cooking...posting... helping each other.......... as much as we do.
Every family is a team.... We just choose our own "position."
I hope this makes sense............
Hugs!!

One more comment..

IF... I ever chose to compete? I was out to win!!
Take no prisoners!!

I am still...very competitive in some things I choose to do.
But I am usually...competing with my own record.

My wife posts here once in a while under my name, mostly in jest and sometimes to vent-see yesterday's post under bbq widows. All kidding aside, she is extremely supportive of my cooking and bbq obsession. It would be very little fun at all if she was not involved with me in it. She always finds meat for me on sale, looks for and buys lump in the store when she goes, and knows how to raise or lower pit temp if I'm at the store buying beer or something. She is also taking a CBJ class w/ me next month. I'm a HAPPY guy

A wife is the power behind the thrown. She is the one that knows what is going on. She does not wear the pants in the family, but she tells you which pair to put on.
If it wasn't for our wifes, we men would be living in caves with our remote control. We would smell the wood smoke entering the cave opening. When we could smell a mixture of smoke and BO 5 days after a good cook, we would walk into the nearest creek and wash our bodies with our jeans on, killing two birds with one stone. When we needed to dispose of used adult beverages, we would find a tree to lean on during disposal.
A good wife is loving, caring, supportive and makes you feel loved when you deserve to be kicked in???
