I have been lurking on here for sometime now and love the Lang 48 and 60 models. I am just not sure if i can talk the wife into the 500.00 dollar shipping fee, but who knows. does anyone have any suggestions or know of any good smokers out here on the west coast? or should i just throw the pants on and tell her the Lang is in the mail.

thanks fellas, brick

Just look at it like the Smoker costs $500 more and get you one so you can post how the first cook went.

I would go with the 60 over the 48. If you get the 48 you will always wish you had gone bigger.

Tell Her to go out and buy her something, that always works

Ya might have to take a drive and sve some dough. I bought my gator-pit and had it shipped. 1200lb shipping weight cost $525 from Texas, and it almost broke the hydraulic lift gate on the truck. I understand your fustration on finding a good smoker. Even the high end dare I say gas grills have a smoker burner with it's own controls which is close. Good luck, you asked the right question in the right site.

If you want one better order now. They will be going up in price the 84 model will increase 1000.00 soon.I was at his shop a few weeks ago looking at the new models really close they are nice the looks will take some getting used too. They remind me of oil drums. They do have a little more cooking space..The shipping price is not bad being that you do live out west.

The more I think about it, driving back there would cost a hell of a lot more in gas than shipping, so I'm over the shipping cost. Now I need to figure out which one to get the 48 or the 60. I will probably never cook for more than 30 and it will never leave the backyard, would the 48 handle that, or am I always going to be hoping I had the 60?

Not too fond of the propane tank look but that's my .02 Look into the Gator-pit or Stump smoker both fantastic to deal with.

The majority of my cooking will be just for the family, 4 of us. Would the 60 be to big for this, does it use a lot more fuel than the 48, or is it about the same? Are there any accessories or add on's I should consider? All I see on the website are thermometers, I'm assuming these are an add on? Somebody said they have an optional side grill, anyone have any experience with these? Sorry to kill you guys with all the questions
